DIY Wine Cork Stars

Sharing is caring!

If you are someone that saves your wine corks, you are going to love this DIY craft!

I feel like you can never have too many holiday decorations, in this one is perfect for the 4th of July.

You only need a handful of supplies to pull off these wine cork stars:

  • Wine corks (if you don’t already have them you can buy some from the craft store)
  • Hot glue gun (and glue sticks)
  • Spray paint (red, white & blue)
  • Mod Podge (matte)
  • Small paint brush
  • Iridescent glitter
  • Ribbon

I used 19 wine corks for each star, so I used 57 total.

The first thing I did was laid out the wine corks in the shape of a star.

I wanted to make sure all of the wine corks would fit good. From there I started to hot glue the wine corks together.

I found the easiest way was to glue each of the 3 wine corks at the points first.

Then I glued each of those sections together. Once that was done I glued the inside wine corks.

After I had all 3 stars made and the glue was dry, I took them outside to spray paint them.

The stars really came to life once they had been painted! But I still thought they could use a little something else.

That’s when I thought of glitter. I grabbed matte Mod Podge, a small paint brush and iridescent glitter.

I painted a small amount of Mod Podge across the wine corks, then sprinkled on some glitter.

Don’t worry, the Mod Podge will dry clear. Once that was completely dry I busted out the hot glue gun again.

I flipped the stars over and cut my ribbon to fit on the stars, then I used the hot glue gun to attach the ribbon.

Knowing that I was going to be hanging this up I cut a small, thin piece of the ribbon to make a hook for the top. I hot glued it to the top star.

Once it was done drying it was time to hang it up. Overall this was a very easy craft, and fun too!
