DIY Mirror & Spray Paint Vase

Sharing is caring!

This DIY mirror & spray paint vase is a fun and inexpensive project! Take a boring ol’ vase and turn it into your own masterpiece.

I bought mirror effect spray paint a while back. I thought it would make a fun DIY project.

I knew I wanted to use the spray paint on a vase, so I needed to find one….actually two.

There are so many places you can buy an inexpensive vase. The dollar store and the thrift store are two of my favorite options.

Since I was using the mirror effect spray paint I knew I needed a vase with a wide opening. The mirror effect spray paint needs to be sprayed on the inside.

I picked up two vases from the thrift store for under $10! I made sure to clean them inside and out before I got started.

Even if you buy a vase that’s brand new you will want to be sure to clean it. You don’t want to add the spray paint if there is dust.

Once my vases were clean I taped off the top on the outside. Since I was spray painting the inside of the vase I didn’t want to get it on the outside.

The mirror effect spray paint is really easy to use. You spray a light coat, then wait one minute for it to dry to add another coat. The directions on my paint can said to apply 5 coats.

I loved the way it looked!

It already made a huge difference updating my vases. But I wasn’t done yet.

I wanted to add some white to the bottom of the vases. I used painters tape to tape off the vases.

I used white spray paint (with primer) and painted the bottom. I only had to do two coats, waiting 10 minutes in between coats.

To fill the vases I went to Joann’s and bought some artificial flowers.

Here are the supplies you need:

  • Vase(s)
  • Painters tape
  • Mirror effect spray paint
  • White spray paint
  • Flowers (optional)

I love how they turned out! It was an easy project that took me under 2 hours to complete.
