They are easy to make and don’t cost a lot of money. That’s a win in my book.

Here are the supplies I bought from the craft store:

I bought white and orange paint, a black paint pen, 2 different styles of ribbon, paint brushes and unfinished wood rectangles.

I bought the black paint pen to do the snowman’s eyes, smile and buttons. You could also use black paint and a small paint brush, but I thought the paint pen was easier.

I also used a hot glue gun and some twine that I already had.

To start the snowmen we painted the rectangles white. We did two coats then let them dry for one hour.

I say “we” because both of my kids actually did the snowmen too. We’re talking a 16 and 12 year old. I was a very happy mom!

The next thing we did was put the scarves on the snowmen. This is where the hot glue gun came in. If you have little kids you will probably want to do this yourself.

We laid the snowman on the scarf and figured out exactly where we wanted it. Then we used the hot glue gun to glue down the first side of the scarf.

Then we used the hot glue gun and glued the other side of the scarf down.

After that we took our twine and glued it to the back. This is what we used to hang the ornament on the tree so make sure you make yours as long as you need it.

As you can see by the picture I didn’t even take the tags off. I started to, but they were sticking really bad. I figured nobody would see the tags so I gave up.

The next step is the really fun part….making the snowman’s face! My snowmen were pretty basic, but my younger daughter was a little more adventurous.

Once we were done we hung them on the tree. That’s it! It was very easy and they turned out super cute.
